Black Belt Testing
Dates and Schedule
Black Belt candidates are expect to come together and clean the dojo on the evening of Saturday, July 26, 2025. The 100 Test begins the following day, Sunday, July 27, 2025 at noon sharp. You are expected to be ready and warmed up. Therefore please come in an hour before to warm up and practice for your test.
Sunday’s schedule will be:
Noon: 100 Test (Closed Viewing)
1:15: Complete Kata Syllabus (Closed Viewing)
3:00: Yakusoku Kumite Test (Closed View)
4:00: Kata Test (Open Viewing)
5:00 Award Ceremony (Open Viewing)
Custom Black Belt Order
It is now time to order your custom black belt if you have not do so yet. The cost has gone up. It is $185 cash. Please submit your name to be translated into Japanese with payment. Due June 1, 2025.
Written Test
Please submit your written test by June 15th, 2025 for review. It is an open test where answers can be researched while completing it.
Balance
The balance of your black belt test is due June 30, 2025
New Policy ***Important***
Please note important changes to our renewal policies which take effect immediately, May 12, 2025.
Any member associated with an account that is overdue by 2 weeks or more will be denied access to the dojo until the account is up to date.
In addition, if the athlete is an additional family member, the family discount will be cancelled.
Auto-renew membership option is automatically within the system. If you have chosen this option because of the discount, your credit card will be automatically charged on the due date. If for some reason, the payment is denied, there is penalty charged by the billing company. These funds do not go to NOX Dojo but to the billing company. We cannot refund these penalty charges.
Sport Karate Changes
Karate Ontario
There are lots of changes this upcoming sport karate season. The 2026 Karate Canada Nationals have been split into 2 dates. Seniors/U21 will be in March 2026 and Juniors will be in May 2026. To accommodate this change, Karate Ontario has begun its competitive season in July 2025. The current tournament list and dates are as follows:
July 20, 2025 North Bay Open
August 17, 2025 Waterloo
September 2025 Ottawa Open
October 19, 2025 Brampton
November 2025 Windsor Open
January 2026 Markham
March 1 2026 Burlington
To compete in any Karate Ontario events, you must be a part of Karate Ontario and Club Seiryu. Training fees are for both recreational and elite are now due by September 30th, 2025. Club Seiryu dues are to be paid by October 31st, 2025. Finally Karate Ontario dues are to be paid by December 31, 2025 for the 2026 calendar year. If athletes wish to compete this year, they must be a KO member for the current year..
If you have paid for your Club Seiryu dues and training fees, you are up to date until September 30, 2025.
Amateur Karate Circuit
AKC Season is still January to End of June and is currently unchanged.
Summer Schedule
As most of you have been aware, since post CoVid, Sensei Sean has been working while dealing with health issues. Two specific factors are his damaged right knee and long CoVid. His long CoVid is now manageable with puffers and is being monitored by a specialist and finally his knee surgery this past month has put him on the road to recovery. As an avid competitor and hiker, he is taking the opportunity to make the best of his 6 month recovery by reducing his working hours during the summer. This is reflected in his reduced travel schedule and by taking Monday’s off during the summer schedule.
Summer schedule begins June 2, 2025. Here are some major changes:
No 5:00PM Classes: All kids classes are merged to 6:00PM
All Monday Classes Merged: All Monday classes (Children and Adults) are merged to 7:00PM
June Monday Team Training: Team training in June will be only on Mondays and Fridays starting at 5:00PM. Mondays ending at 7:00 and Fridays at 7:15.
Wednesday training ends in June for the summer.

35 Year Celebration
Our $35 month has now come to a close. It was limited to the first 35 people, We have now surpassed that number. However, it is not over, Sunday, September 21, 2025, we will be celebrating NOX Dojo’s 35 years with a big celebration. It will be an open house with a Free BBQ and Seminars. Plans are in the works. Please stay tuned.
