Just using masking tape, you can create your own footwork diagram. We will be using this diagram often in our online remote learning classes. It is effective way to visualize your steps for kata or kumite.
Step 1: Determine your shoulder width.
Step 2: Make a cross, then measure and mark the shoulder width distance from centre in all 4 directions.
Step 3: Join each of these marks to make a diamond.
Step 4: Mark the centre of each of the 4 faces of the diamond.
Step 5: Join the diamond faces of the opposing opposing sides.
Tadahhhh! You should end up with a diagram pointing to the cardinal directions of North (12 o’clock), South (6 o’clock), East (3 o’clock), West (9 o’clock), North East (1:30), North West (10:30), South East (4:30), and South West (7:30).
